A huge praise — we finally found a house and moved in this weekend! YAY! What a relief! It was only three months of house hunting then waiting, but with three little babies, that transition felt like it was never going to end. We are so, so thankful that it did and we’re in our very own home. We closed the same day as my Grandmother’s funeral so Cam handled it all solo with two toddlers!
And no, this photo is not of of our house, but it is one of the inspiration images we are using in remodeling ours. It’s going to need a lot of work and imagination (we already have an active leak to deal with) but we’re really excited to bring it to life! I chose this photo because we’re going to be painting our whole house white, adding new wood front doors, updating the light fixtures and doing a simple, beautiful landscape with lots of roses and hydrangea. I can’t wait to share photos as we get going. Right now, we’re still unpacking boxes!
I keep hearing John Shea and Gracie walking/skipping through the downstairs saying, “this is my home!” Makes me so happy to see them finally feeling settled!
I hope you have a wonderful day and I’ll hopefully be back tomorrow with more updates!

Oh, I am so so happy to hear that, Amanda! So glad you’re finally able to settle down a bit with this BIG box checked off! Can’t wait to see what a beauty you’ll no doubt transform it into! xx

Congratulations to you and your Amanda! I hope you have wonderful memories in this home and would love if you shared some of your renovation progress along the way! We have been remodelling our 110 year old house for several years now and it is certainty a labor of love but so fun and rewarding to put love and a face lift into an old house!

Thank you!!! I definitely will! Starting this weekend! That’s amazing — we were actually really hoping to find an old farmhouse like you all, but it wasn’t in the cards for us this time. I’d love to hear your sources of inspiration while you guys work on your home!

Houzz is amazing for searching inspiration photos and saving different idea books. It’s also helped my husband and I sort through our (sometimes very) different visions for how we want the new spaces to look redone! I would also say patience is key! It has taken us much much longer than our original timeline and all things construction seem to go slower than you hope and expect. But at the end of the day nothing, beats relaxing in your redone home and enjoying the fruits of your labor and how proud you will feel about your space.
I would also say be sure to take lots of pictures before and during the process. It’s fun and rewarding to look back at before photos of how far things have come.

Thank you, Brittany. That is all fantastic advice. I’ve never been on Houzz … I know what I’m doing tonight instead of unpacking boxes ! Wise advice too about being patient and things going slower than what we think — we’re already experiencing that and I’m trying to simplify our project list where we can. Have you posted your before and after shots?
Brittany says
I haven’t posted before and after shots! I should have started a blog when we started this project but never managed to get it going so don’t really have a good venue for posting photos. I keep meaning to make a small photo book of before/afters and in progress pics of our work so far so we have something to fondly flip through and encouragement to keep trucking. And then add another photo book as we make more progress!

Ahhhh, darn! Well if you ever DO start one, please please send me the link! 🙂

I definitely will!
