Yoshiko-san & Setoku-san!
Best neighborhood flower shop, bar none
The beach down the street where our John was baptized!
We were walking through our neighborhood last night feeling nostalgic. We’re into our last “Fall” on this special island. Everyone told us when we arrived over two years ago that the time would fly by and that each year would go faster. Oh my gosh has it ever. This week we started planning our last trips.
We stopped and said konbanwa to a couple of our Japanese neighbors and realized again how special it is to be friends with them… they welcomed us with open arms when we moved here.. watched me through my whole pregnancy, so excited to meet John, and now so happy to dote on our incredibly tall American baby with beautiful blue eyes. It’s a gift to live amongst this lovely culture and people. For that and a hundred other reasons, we’re really thankful it isn’t time to leave just yet.
PS. Okinawa’s Fall is just a milder, kinder summer, but mainland Japan is spectacular during this season:
We walked through a forest at the foot of Mount Fuji to an outdoor onsen this time last year
/// and explored gorgeous Kyoto beside real life geisha two Falls ago.

I was just thinking how amazing it is that you get to document all of this and will have so many special memories stored in a place where you'll be able to go back in time and reminisce about everything you experienced here! (including having your sweet baby!)
