Love, I think, is defined in what took place 2,000 years ago today
on the cross.
One of the many, many humbling things I find about reading Scripture is that you can read and re-read the same verses day after day, year after year, and there is always something new to learn or a new perspective to gain.. something that I never saw before or didn’t understand. I was reminded of that this week as I’ve been contemplating that Jesus CHOSE the cross. He CHOSE to die for me in place of my sins.
He CHOSE,
not to be treated and seen as the King He is,
but to be misunderstood.
To be persecuted.
To be betrayed.
He CHOSE it
because it was the way to the cross.
To suffer and be crucified.
For me.
For you.
It was MY sins that put Him there.
“They stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him, and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on His head. They put a staff in His right hand and knelt in front of Him and mocked Him. ‘Hail King of the Jews!’ they said. They spit on Him, and took His staff and struck Him on the head again and again. After they had mocked Him, they took off the robe and put His own clothes on Him. Then they led Him away to crucify Him.”
{Matthew 27:28-31}
I hope you take time today to really dwell on how GOOD this Friday truly is.
