Happy Easter Week! This is my favorite time of the whole year, and my absolute favorite time in Croatia. Our whole family is homesick for it!
Easter is the most sacred celebration of the year and it’s felt in everything, especially in Zagreb. It’s deeply part of the culture. I loved seeing the markets full of people preparing for the big meal on Sunday, with beautiful dyed eggs and olive branches for sale on most tables, the lilacs and peonies everywhere, churches offering free Passion concerts, the Cathedral decked out with hand-painted Easter eggs… the solemn tradition of Following the Cross, drinking homemade red wine to symbolize Christ’s blood shed and staying up all night to await His resurrection.
It’s such a beautiful time to be in Croatia — I wish you all could experience it. I’ll be back to posting next week… I hope you have the most joyous Easter!!!
He poured out His life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
