A quick way to make a pretty home improvement? Switch out doorknobs and hardware! We’ve been switching out ours whenever we have a free chance and it’s making such a difference. When we start renovating the kitchen, we’re going to add a transom where this curved doorway currently is.
You can see the difference between the typical builder-grade silver knobs (on the left) to the black hardware on the right. Isn’t that pretty!? We were inspired by the old crystal doorknobs inside a few of the turn of the century farmhouses we saw during our house hunt.
Cute girl. We bought the crystal knob and back plate on Amazon and the plain black knobs and hardware from Home Depot. You can buy the hinges in bulk (called contractor packs) at Home Depot that nearly cut the price in half!

Amanda I can’t believe the difference these knobs and hardware make!! I always knew that was one easy upgrade but seeing the side by side doors — WOW! Ok you’ve inspired me to change out our hardware STAT!!
Love the crystal knobs – especially for the type of house you are in!

And not too expensive either!! I think in total we paid $14 per door with the military discount at Lowe’s and Home Depot. We need to talk this week !!

Logan!!! So great to hear from you. How are you? How is your precious little man? I think of you still each time we pull out the bedtime prayers book, which is often 🙂

Also, I should add — this one wasn’t as simple to install like the other plain black knobs we used — unless your door already has a spot for a keyhole, you’ll have to drill one in. I could install the other knobs but this one Cam had to do!
