Zagreb is slowly starting the dance from summer heat to cooler temps, back and forth as we get closer to Autumn. Our neighbors gifted us with their first pumpkins and all kinds of white, orange and yellow varieties are popping up at the markets. John Shea Turns Three!
It's hard to imagine a little person more sweet, tender, open-hearted, affectionate or loving as John Shea. I have loved every single milestone and age of his - he is the most radiant and joyful soul we know and he only becomes more so each year. An Afternoon in Vukovar
Vukovar is a small city right on the Danube River and the border with Serbia. It was the hardest hit part of Croatia, and arguably all of former Yugoslavia during the 1990's war. It was shelled for over 80 days straight, until the Serbian Army started in house to house and the city fell. Of the few thousand Croats who stayed to defend the city, most died. The Hills and Vineyards of Kutjevo, Croatia
Slavonia is the beautiful, least visited and most eastern region of Croatia. It's full of rolling hills of grain, vineyards, all kinds of produce, and in the summertime -- sunflowers literally as far as the eye can see! It's known as the "Bread Basket" of Croatia and holds one of the country's most famous and beloved wine regions near the small village of Kutjevo.
